Here's a tip for all the out of work stance tanks that don't have any idea of what to do next. Have a monk use Spellbreaker on you, you run out of everyone agro circle and hold agro. A smart monk will also cast Healing Seed and Vigorous Spirit on you. Now you can actually swing your axe or sword, you do remember how I hope, and heal yourself. All it takes is a second or two for the mobs to concentrate their wrath on the tank. They typically don't break agro unless some idiot casts an AoE spell.

Caster types of enemies will sometimes decide to wand the other parts of the group, but that doesn't do a whole lot of damage.

I hear ya Hockster.

People will find a way.. some new build group will be formulated and things will flow smoother once again.
It's happened before, it'll happen again.

We're not defeated, it's not 'over'. Just the classic 5man method has been hit with a stone wall.
With items that are in demand down there in SF, the determination to find a new method will drive people forward.
Don't expect this to be 'done' for long.

Finaly

People will now need an understanding of how aggro works. What a novel idea.

And I don't see it nerfing much anyway, SF is still 3 manable WITHOUT the gear/keg trick, FoW is also 3 mannable without the book trick. This update really didn't do much except make people who were totaly helpless without the book/gear/keg/torch(for thk lol) trick actualy need to put some thought and effort into basic tactics.

I will say though, SF is now no longer 2 mannable, which really won't bother anyone anyway, as they thought 5 man was as low as it could go/realised oro or fa really weren't worth it for the time spent in a 2 man group(or really any group for that matter).

Except this time it will require skill.

I had nothing against the gear/book trick, but if arenanet feel that this is hindering people from learning the mechanics or whatever reason they took it out, so be it.

Yep! Having them all draw to an item wasn't very realistic anyhow. It's too boring to continually exploit a sore like that. ><
Like my earlier metaphor.. if I sent a kid into a bank with a donut, that doesn't mean all the law enforcers are going to surround the kid while I make a dash for the vault. So, the same applies here.. sure it was fine while it lasted, sure i'm a little bummed, but it's a reasonable fix so.. oh well!

About time, yes! Why do people go in B/p-groups in SF? I've done it myself with jsut 4 henchies (albeit slowly and with some trouble). Two necros and 3 henchies can do it very well though, so the standard 5-man build will still work fine

okay...

wtf is going on?

Thats two threads Ive read now about CRITICAL in-game changes and NOTHING about them on the updates page??

Are we delving back into the dark ages of having to find out what changes ANET have made, and make our own speculations?

Cmon ANET, we dont want to have to send Administrators into the game to fetch screenshots of things just to 'confirm' there is no scamming! (like with the HoD thread)

on the subject of the Aggro thing.... has anyone tried the scepter of Orr?.. have they completly removed EVERY kind of aggro attracting effect?

The reason is simple: Speed

Now that gear trick is gone you can't have the warrior running from one group to another without thinking, and the time spent preparing good aggros = slower run.

The whole point is to FARM as much green as possible in as little time as possible. So what if its still doable with this and that and skill and carefulness and etc etc. If its not FAST no one will bother.

P.S. I am refering to dark saga's post

yay for no more item tricks ^^ means life playing bonder is more interesting and pro-active now, and i won't feel as though i've had to waste 2-3 skill slots.

we managed fine before we discovered the book/keg trick and we'll once again learn to do that again, so nothing should change, apart from maybe more people noticing how some players lack the ability to aggro or control it

Or if said warrior moves more than a setp or two to get in range of the new target...

The sole thing I hate the most about most warriors is they dont have any idea how to hold agro if they have to move - and most other players dont know enough to back off so agro doesnt go to them.

No need to move until all the meleers (sp?) are dead. When all that's left are casters it's easy kills.

A noob Warrior could hold the book and you would still get through FoW. Now, it's just going to be a hundred times harder to find a real stance tank to hold aggro. Not to mention 7 other people staying out of his/her aggro bubble till the enemies all group up. IMO I think ANET did a stupid thing. It will just make more players rage at each other and quit but w/e.

Hah, I got a good laugh out of that, thanks man. So you will quit if they nerf your precious 55 farmer. BP will not take over, not everyone in GW is a complete idiot/moron.....yet...

There's one thing I do want to know then.

Without the gear or kegs or books, how do you do the text quests? How do you do the Final Assault quest? How do you get through sorrow's furnace normally without gears to put in the doors to open?

There was no nerf. Nothing has been nerfed.

There was a bug and that bug has been fixed.

Invincimonks aren't a bug so they don't need fixing.
